RemZ

Night falls over the forest. The horde is coming. Hold the hut.

RemZ is a first-person zombie survival shooter set at a forest hut. Warm autumn light, leaf-covered ground, a crackling campfire. Then the first wave arrives.

Build barricades across the palisade gates, defend the hut against zombies that go straight for its walls, and survive wave after wave. Every fifth wave brings a boss fight, and later on 27-metre titans come striding across the fields.

  • Endless wave survival:  Zombies, boss waves, and giant titans that tear through your defences
  • Defend the hut: gates you can build, repair and vault, plus a hut with its own health. If it falls, you lose.
  • Towers - Build Towers for defence
  • Quests - Hundreds of quests available from numerous NPCs will help you progress faster and earn rewards
  • Tons of weapons: from classic rifles to a plasma sniper, a cryo SMG, a minigun and a graviton cannon, with weapon mods you can see on the gun (suppressors, compensators, extended mags and more)
  • Drones - Fly drones and use them to shoot down the hordes
  • Grenades, melee, supply drops and kill streaks: earn points, spend them on gear and push your score higher
  • Co-op: survive the night together with your friends
  • 4 difficulty levels, 28 achievements and a local top-10 leaderboard

Install instructions

Installation (Windows 64-bit)

Easiest way: the itch.io app. Install RemZ with the itch app and it handles installing, updating and launching for you.

Manual download:

  1. Download the ZIP and extract it to any folder, for example C:\Games\RemZ. Don't start the game from inside the ZIP.
  2. Make sure RemZ.exe and RemZ.pck are in the same folder. The game needs both.
  3. Double-click RemZ.exe to play.

You don't need to install anything else: no .NET, no Visual C++ redistributable, no extra runtimes.

Windows SmartScreen: The game is not code-signed yet, so Windows may show "Windows protected your PC". Click More info → Run anyway.

System requirements

  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
  • A dedicated graphics card with Vulkan support (NVIDIA GTX 1060 / AMD RX 580 or better recommended). The game is built for high visual quality, so a strong gaming PC gives the best experience. You can lower the quality in the settings menu.
  • Up-to-date graphics drivers. If the game doesn't start or shows a black screen, update your GPU driver first.
  • About 2.5 GB of free disk space

Co-op: To host a game, allow RemZ through the Windows Firewall when Windows asks.
